About Girls Who Surf
Oahu's Leaders in Surf Lessons
Also Serving the Visitor Industry
The Girls Who Surf brand has developed a unique activity based on adventure, education, respect, and support. Founder Cherry Fu graduated from Harvard College in 2002 privileged and arrogant that she could go wherever she wanted to go and do whatever she wanted to do. Living the belief that ‘lifestyle is a choice’, she went to Hawaii and she picked up surfing. With job experience in teaching, coaching, high end tourism, and a desire to manage business, she started Girls Who Surf. Her vision to provide a high end surf lesson activity for guests to the island, an encouraging and supportive surf education for women, and an enjoyable work environment, particularly for female instructors, has become a reality.
Surfing can be an intimidating endeavor. Managing a board in unfamiliar ocean waters is daunting with the potential for harm and exhaustion without fun. With the philosophy of ‘can’, Girls Who Surf guides baby surfers towards independence. In their first lesson, most of our guests are able to catch waves on their own.
